RSU 10 board votes to move sixth grade from Hartford Sumner Elementary to Buckfield junior-senior high

The RSU 10 School Board voted to relocate sixth grade from Hartford Sumner Elementary School (HSES) to Buckfield Junior-Senior High School, effective with the 2026–27 school year.

Board members said the move follows a year-and-a-half feasibility study and community input and is driven in part by space constraints and the district’s plans for full‑time public pre‑K. "The feasibility studies that we got back from Herriman and the input that we received were the configuration of a pre-K–5 at Hartford Sumner and a 6–12 here," a board member said during the meeting.
