The Fabens Alumni Association presented a check for $6,418.84 to Fabens ISD athletics at the June 25 board meeting, association leaders and coaches said.
Joshua Sustaita, president of the Fabens Alumni Association, said the funds came from the group's first golf tournament, which fielded 24 teams and included regional and local sponsors. The association said it has an ongoing scholarship program and that revenue from events helps fund scholarships and program needs.
Coaches at the meeting thanked the alumni association and said the donated funds will be used to purchase jerseys and support athletics activities. Sustaita and other association officers encouraged community membership and small donations, noting long-term donors and recurring contributions underpin the group's scholarship work.
The presentation was made during the public portion of the regular board meeting; no board action was required.
