"This early resignation notice incentive is a cash incentive to employees under chapter 21 or non chapter 21 employment contracts who already intend to resign at the end of the school year to return for early notice resignation," said Vivi Nunez, the district finance director, while presenting the proposal.
Nunez clarified eligibility in her presentation: at-will, temporary and part-time employees are not eligible. She also referenced the "TA code," describing how educators under probationary, term or continuing contracts may provide notice without penalty up to 45 days before the first day of instruction for the following school year, language cited by administration to explain notice windows.
The board had a motion and a second before voting; trustees approved the incentive with a recorded vote of 7-0.
The district packet presented the incentive as limited to the first 20 qualifying participants and did not specify the total budgetary impact or the administrative process for confirming eligibility and payment. The finance director did not provide a headcount of expected participants during the presentation.
