Greenville County Council approved six applicants to the Greenville County Historic and Natural Resources Trust, which funds and preserves natural and historic properties in the county.
Applicants who spoke included Molly Kaminski, an urban planner with GIS experience who said she has lived in the county for more than 25 years; Will (William) McAuley, a local construction professional; James O’Connor, an engineer and professor with prior Roper Mountain Science Center board service; David Snodgrass, a pastor and former member of a county commission in another county; and Catherine (Kathy) Taylor, a park ranger and longtime Paris Mountain State Park naturalist and historian. Steven Parks was on the applicant list but could not attend the interview.
Councilors voted to approve all six applicants who filled the trust’s six vacancies. One council member moved to approve all six by motion, and the motion passed by voice vote. Councilors noted the trust’s track record of preserving land and said the board’s work is an investment in the county’s quality of life.
The trust’s work includes acquisition and stewardship of property for conservation, recreation, and historic preservation. Councilors did not vote to change the trust’s budget or acquisition priorities at the meeting.
