The committee approved a slate of community project grants from district budgets, allocating roughly $46,551.40 to local nonprofit and municipal projects to be executed before the next funding cycle.
Mr. Lambert presented the applications and amounts. Approved items included:
- Upstate Backpack Blessings (City of Simpsonville): $3,000 to supplement weekend food bags for children; program reported distributing 15,847 bags last year and serving 19 schools in southern Greenville County.
- Dunklin Fire Rescue: $7,000 for turnout gear (project total ~$34,540; funding from multiple district allocations and a state V‑SAFE grant noted).
- Wreaths Across America (working with City of Mauldin): $2,500 for wreaths at veteran graves across multiple sites on Dec. 13, 2025.
- Mauldin Cultural Center amphitheater improvements: $5,000 for plantings, signage, drainage and back‑of‑stage features.
- Clear Springs Fire Rescue: $5,228 for low‑pressure firefighting nozzles (project total ~$11,474; represents ~45% of project budget).
- Simpsonville Area Chamber of Commerce map project: $5,000 to produce visitor/resident maps to be distributed locally and at interstate welcome centers.
- Parker Fire Department partnering with Woodside Church of God’s Kids for Christ feeding program: $4,000 to support weekend breakfast and lunch distribution during the school year; program partners and district representatives praised the effort.
- Greenville County Historic Preservation Commission: $2,323.40 for nine Greenville County historic designation plaques.
- Greenville County Sheriff’s Office drones: $7,500 (three districts contributed $2,500 each) to support search‑and‑rescue, scene documentation and tactical operations; staff noted an existing vendor credit of $3,198.93 toward the purchase.
- Mauldin Amphitheater additional improvements: $5,000 for signage, drainage and back‑stage upgrades.
All projects were approved by voice vote; the chair recorded “aye” for each motion. Several council members who spoke in support described programs as well‑run or important local services. Mr. Lambert noted some projects are a high percentage of a project budget and that district funds are being used to support small capital and service activities ahead of the next cycle.
Next steps: awarded organizations will receive instructions from county staff on contracting and disbursement; projects funded by one‑time community project allocations will proceed under county procurement and grant‑management rules.
