Robert Mitchell Gunter of River Rock Engineering spoke for the applicant (Jimmy Macas) and said the 2.98-acre parcel at 20 Old Augusta Road is split-zoned C-1/C-2 and the owner seeks rezoning to S-1 services to develop RV and boat storage. Gunter said the owner operates a nearby restaurant and expects the storage to serve local demand and complement neighboring businesses.
Gunter told the hearing the site is adjacent to existing S-1 zoning to the north and east and that rezoning to S-1 would align with the county’s future land use map for the area. No members of the public spoke against the application. County staff reiterated that this night’s hearing was informational only; the planning commission and committee will consider the request in the coming review process.
