Jessica Gates, who operates Harvest Moon Farm and Flower at 145 Chapman Grove Road, told Greenville County officials she sought to rezone her 10.68-acre property from RR3 to AG (agricultural preservation) so the farm can expand into agritourism and operate a farm stand. Gates said the farm has operated for six years and was recently awarded USDA funding for the agritourism addition.

“We were recently awarded funding from USDA for agritourism farm stand addition to the operation,” Gates said, and she told council the farm is surrounded by similar small farms and agribusinesses, including Happy Cow Creamery and Cityscape Winery.

No one spoke in opposition at the public hearing. Staff recorded Gatestestimony and noted the hearing is informational; the item will move forward to the Planning Commission and Planning and Development Committee for review and recommendation.
