Arts on the Greenway presented Aug. 11 about its first major fundraiser as a nonprofit and the council separately approved renovation work for the group's building across from City Hall.
Corinne Kaye, president of Arts on the Greenway, said the organization will host a "Buccaneers Ball" for 120 ticketed attendees on Oct. 11 featuring themed entertainment and local performers; proceeds will fund equipment purchases and building renovations to support community programming. Kaye named specific performers and entertainment planned, and invited merchants and vendors to participate.
Separately, during the city manager report, Mr. Blanton said council had approved renovations to the Arts on the Greenway building to address facade safety and aesthetic improvements. "I do want to give a shout out to our friends at Arts on the Greenway," Mr. Blanton said, noting council-approved work to address safety concerns and aesthetics.
The presentation and the council's approval did not include a request for city operating funds for Arts on the Greenway; the organization described the event and its objectives and said tickets and further information will be available on its website.
