Assistant superintendent Dom Lisi previews 2025 budget calendar and early state-aid runs

Dr. Dom Lisi, the district’s newly hired assistant superintendent for business, introduced himself to the Ithaca City School District Board on Jan. 28 and presented a proposed 2025 budget calendar and early calculations of state aid runs tied to the governor’s executive budget.
Lisi said the preliminary foundation-aid run shows an estimated 12.24% increase in foundation aid for the district — a figure he estimated would amount to about $2,700,000 more than the prior year — and said total state aid preliminary runs were up roughly 6 percent. He cautioned the board these are initial figures and that final aid runs will arrive in April.
Lisi walked the board through legal calendar items, including a proposed special board meeting on April 22 to act on property-tax cap and property tax report-card requirements, and said the district will add community conversation dates to the calendar once scheduling is finalized.
Board members thanked Lisi for the rapid orientation and said finance and facilities committees would work with the business office over the coming months. Lisi asked the community to use the district’s budget FAQ and Let’s Talk channels for questions and emphasized that the district will provide more revenue and expense detail as trustees and staff develop the proposed budget.
No formal budget decisions were made at the meeting; Lisi’s presentation was an informational introduction to the budget process and the preliminary state-aid picture.
