The motion, moved by Adam and seconded by Jill, listed the policies recommended for rescission: Policy 4112 (School Day), Policy 4114 (Dismissal of School), Policy 4115 (Limiting Elementary Classroom Interruptions), Policy 4300 (Supervision), and Policy 4530.1 (Community as a Classroom). Board members said most of these items contained outdated language and either duplicated provisions found elsewhere or conflicted with modern practice.
Trustees discussed how the district will ensure operational details such as daily school hours remain available to families even if the formal policy is deleted. Staff said daily schedules are issued to families and that if necessary the district can draft a replacement policy reflecting current practice. The board approved the first reading and will return the deletions to the policy committee for the required second reading and final action.
No final deletions were enacted at the April 29 meeting; board members emphasized that deleting outdated policies is intended to reduce conflicts and improve clarity across the policy book.
