The council adopted a final-reading ordinance that amends the township traffic code to reduce speed limits on Route 527 (Wadesville Road) in two segments: from State Highway 70 to Brentwood Avenue the posted speed will drop from 50 mph to 45 mph; from Brentwood Avenue to the Jackson Township line the posted speed will drop from 50 mph to 40 mph.

The ordinance amends section 477-79 (Schedule 21: Speed limits) of the township code, citing enhanced vehicular and pedestrian safety as the purpose of the reductions. The council opened public comment on the item and, after seeing no speakers on that specific item, voted on the ordinance.

A council member asked the administration to “step up enforcement” after the reductions take effect so drivers comply with the new limits. The ordinance passed on final reading.
