The Town Council on Aug. 5 introduced Ordinance O-30-2025, which would amend Chapter 30 (Land Development), Article 2F, Section 2.16.7 to add regulations for medical cannabis dispensaries and Class 5 cannabis retailers. A motion to introduce the ordinance passed on a recorded roll call; Councilman Silva voted no, and the remaining council members voted yes. The ordinance was introduced by title only; council members reserved detailed review for subsequent hearings.
Council President announced the ordinance will be scheduled for a consistency review by the Planning Board on Aug. 28 and returned to the council for public hearing and possible adoption at the Sept. 9 council meeting. No substantive amendments were adopted at introduction; council members spoke only to record their votes. The council did not adopt the ordinance at the Aug. 5 meeting.
Next steps are a Planning Board consistency review on Aug. 28 and a council public hearing on Sept. 9 when the ordinance could be adopted or further amended.
