Human Relations Commission re-elects Chair Kuchel and Vice Chair Anthony Newell

The Salina Human Relations Commission on Sept. 9 unanimously re-elected Chair Kuchel to another term and retained Anthony Newell as vice chair.
The commission first approved minutes from its Aug. 12 regular meeting before moving to officer elections. A motion to nominate the current chair passed without opposition, followed by a motion to keep Anthony Newell as vice chair; members voted "aye" for both motions.
The commission also confirmed its regular meeting schedule as the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. and set the next meeting for Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 5:30 p.m. Commissioners and staff noted that special meetings are rare and that the date is set in the commission’s bylaws.
Before adjourning, staff reminded members that a study-session training will follow the next meeting and that an additional required training session is scheduled for Oct. 14 for members who need to complete in-person requirements.
The meeting opened with roll call and a staff confirmation that notice had been provided under the Kansas Open Meeting Act.
The meeting adjourned after a motion to adjourn that passed by voice vote.
