The Euclid Shade Tree Commission voted to approve two budget items tied to the upcoming Pond and Garden Tour: $240 for participant gifts and a not-to-exceed $1,360 allocation for the appreciation dinner.
Commissioner Charlene (Euclid Shade Tree Commission), who is organizing the tour, said there are 24 gardens, two of them new this year, and that the event runs Friday through Sunday with different gardens on the Saturday and Sunday routes. She proposed $10 per garden for gifts, for a total of $240. The commission approved the gifts allocation by voice vote.
For the appreciation dinner, Charlene explained the price had risen and proposed an $18-per-person menu plus 20% gratuity. Commissioners estimated up to 60 garden-related attendees plus plus-ones and eight commissioners and four city staff; the motion to limit dinner spending to no more than $1,360 passed by voice vote.
The commission’s treasurer reported a balance of $2,976.60 as of May 16, 2025, and a staff member noted last year’s ticket sales totaled $1,719. Charlene said tickets for the tour can be bought on the Euclid city website and that a bus option through the Willoughby Senior Center will also be available.
No detailed roll-call votes were recorded in the meeting transcript; motions were approved by voice vote and the chair declared each motion passed.
