The committee approved publisher requests from Studies Weekly (grades K–5) and Sabus/Savvas (grades K–12) to update content to align with the revised social‑studies TEKS.
TEA staff said the requests were posted to the TEA website on Sept. 24 for public review and that social‑studies content staff had reviewed the submissions and agreed the materials align to revised standards. Staff reported they had not received public comment on these specific update requests and recommended permission for the publishers to apply the updates in the versions available to schools.
Committee members asked for clearer side‑by‑side comparisons from publishers in future update requests. Staff said they are working with creative services to provide more accessible, comparative materials for agenda packages and web posting so members and the public can review changes more readily.
The committee voted to approve the publisher update requests by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
