Staff explained that the original Proclamation 2017 contracts (materials adopted for classroom use in the 2017–2018 school year) are reaching the end of their initial eight‑year terms and that an optional four‑year renewal period is available. TEA recommended renewing selected publishers’ contracts so districts can continue to procure materials through the statewide contract while career and technical education and world‑language subjects proceed through the Instructional Materials Review and Adoption (IMRA) process.
Staff noted some publishers declined to renew; where publishers chose not to renew or could not supply inventory for the full renewal period, those titles were listed as non‑renewals. The committee asked several follow‑up questions about specific publishers and whether offerings were print or digital; staff replied that response details (digital/print, TEKS coverage percentage and district use) would be provided on request and are included in the staff attachment.
The motion to renew the listed contracts passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
