"It's been 3 weeks since there's been anything done on the roadway," resident Steve Cox said during the public-concerns portion of the meeting. Cox described areas where stone had been placed without underlying tar, saying there were sections "that don't have any tar underneath them whatsoever."
A city official responded that the city had previously addressed the procurement question and that no formal bids were required because the work falls below the $75,000 threshold. "There is no need to take bids because it's under the $75,000 threshold," the official said. The official added the city selected a local contractor to perform the work. City staff later told the resident they were working to obtain equipment and hoped the repair could occur within about two weeks.
