During the citizens comment portion of the meeting, Lowell Johnson, a Corinth resident, asked the council to note the recent death of one of the city’s early Keep Corinth Beautiful volunteers, Jim Aragon.
“Jim provided hundreds of pictures of the parks, the trails, the people, no charge at all to the city, and Leanne uses them in all of the brochures,” Johnson said. He recounted that Aragon photographed city events and produced an early interagency website the city used; Johnson said that site helped the city win a 2006 Keep Texas Beautiful award for best website.
Johnson said Aragon served as the organization’s photographer from about 2004 to February 2008, had a degree from UNT in graphic design, and was active in the local music scene. “So it's RIP Jim. He lived a wonderful life, and, thanks for your time,” Johnson said.
Mayor and council members thanked Johnson for the update. No council action was requested or taken on the item; it was a public comment.
The council’s citizens comments rules in the meeting stated comments should be limited to three minutes and that counsel (sic) is prohibited from acting on or discussing items brought up during the public-comment period at that time.
