Council held a first reading of Ordinance O-46-25, introduced by Councilman Pacuri and Police Chief Morris, to amend the city code and designate new no-parking areas and to authorize the Service Director to enact temporary parking restrictions.
Police Chief Morris and Councilman Pacuri presented the item and councilmembers discussed resident complaints about vehicles parked on the inside of a curve, particularly at night, which may be creating safety concerns. One council member said: "I've received some complaints. I've witnessed it myself. It's really almost on a daily basis that there's vehicles parked on the inside of the curve, especially at night time." That speaker requested the ordinance proceed through the readings so staff could implement and enforce appropriate signage and temporary restrictions.
Why this matters: temporary and permanent no-parking designations are used to address safety concerns on narrow or curved streets; the proposed ordinance is on first reading and will return for further action.
Next steps: the item will be discussed at subsequent meetings; staff and police will develop precise location descriptions and signage recommendations before final passage. No final vote was taken on Aug. 25.
