The Shepherdsville City Council approved Ordinance 025027, establishing an ad valorem tax rate of 11.61¢ per $100 of assessed valuation on tangible personal property and property of public service companies for the 2025 calendar year. The ordinance was sponsored by Council member Faith Portman and was given first reading Aug. 25, 2025, and second reading Aug. 26, 2025.
The ordinance directs that the Bullitt County property valuation administrator’s 2025 assessment be adopted for city tax purposes and says the levy is for salaries, repair and maintenance of streets and public buildings, street lighting and other lawful city charges. It requires the Bullitt County sheriff to prepare and mail tax bills and sets delinquency and interest rules: any bill unpaid after Jan. 31, 2026, will be declared delinquent and bear 5% interest for that period; from Feb. 1, 2026, through April 15, 2026, the ordinance sets interest at 10% plus a 10% add-on fee. The ordinance also states a 2% discount will be allowed for bills paid on or before Nov. 1, 2025. Payments are to be made to the Bullitt County Sheriff at PO Box 205, Shepherdsville, KY 40165.
The ordinance includes a severability clause, repeals prior conflicting ordinances, and states it is adopted in accordance with the Kentucky Revised Statutes and will be effective on publication as provided by law.
