The Metropolitan Council voted Aug. 27 to authorize the regional administrator to negotiate and execute contract 24P301 with Intercon Security for supplemental security officer services, trip-agent services and related site security across Metro Transit locations in an amount not to exceed $57,400,000.
Council Member Parker, presenting business item 2026-168, told the council the replacement contract will provide supplemental security officer services for 16 locations, trip agent services on Metro routes, roading security officer services at 12 facilities and the ability to add future sites as needed. Parker said a request for proposals was released May 18 and seven proposals were received on June 18; the evaluation panel selected Intercon Security as "the most advantageous to the council."
Parker moved that the council authorize execution of contract 24P301 with Intercon Security in an amount not to exceed $57,400,000; the motion carried after a second and an uncontroversial voice vote. The contract will replace an existing supplemental security contract (22P123) that concludes at year-end.
Council members did not request extended debate during the business item; council staff noted evaluation criteria used in procurement included proposal quality, proposer qualifications, key personnel, service delivery plan and price. The council recorded the action as approved and staff will proceed with contract negotiation and execution under the established procurement rules.
