Madison Parks hears options after Crystal Beach runs $56,000 short; residents push for signage, pricing changes and Friends group

The Madison Parks board opened its meeting with an operations report on Crystal Beach pool and the adjoining campground, and learned the pool was about $56,000 in the red for the season while the campground showed positive revenue and upcoming bookings.

Board chair (unnamed) led discussion and asked for clarification about the year-to-date totals. Christian (parks superintendent) confirmed the figures and told the board Crystal Beach finished the season roughly “negative $56,000.” The superintendent said the pool’s costs, particularly labor, were the primary drivers of the deficit and that staff are identifying ways to reduce expenses for future seasons.
