Two members of the public spoke during the council's public-comment period on Sept. 2 about parks and utilities.
Frosty Brown, identifying himself as representing the TL Baseball Boosters and giving his address as 703 West Market Street, told the council he has maintained Legion Field under a long-standing gentleman's agreement and warned the council about deteriorating field conditions, providing a packet of recommendations and photos. Brown said the packet reflected his group's views and urged the council to consider the needs of local baseball fields in the parks master-plan discussions.
Separately, Steve Hendrickson of 975 Dickerson addressed natural gas aggregation. Hendrickson said residents can often find lower natural-gas rates on the state's comparison website than the regional aggregation contract being proposed; he noted some alternative offers lock rates for three years versus the proposed 20-month term under the consortium. Troy staff responded that the city's aggregation program (through Miami Valley Communications Council) does not start until October and that rate calculations, seasonal timing and bid timing differ among offers; staff encouraged residents with questions to contact the city for assistance.
Council did not take action on either public comment item during the meeting; both comments were recorded for the public record.
