District outlines Braxton Craven demolition schedule; Trinity High cleanup RFQ posted

"We think that project will cost or take about 6 to 8 months for completing once it starts," the district official said, but added contractor scheduling will determine the actual start date and the district must accept the timing contractors can offer.
On Trinity High School, the official said an RFQ (request for qualifications) is posted on the district website, with interested contractors expected to schedule for a May 22 site meeting and the district planning to open bids in mid-July (the official cited July 11 as a target). The district plans to use an engineering firm that prepared the approved plan to supervise the cleanup project and described an ensuing contract that will be presented to the board for consent.
Board members asked about estimated costs; staff said final cost estimates will depend on bids but cautioned environmental approvals (including Army Corps of Engineers review) and supervision contracts would add to total project amounts. The official described the work as regrettable and said the district will not assume responsibility for the cause of contamination but will proceed to remediate the site so it can be reused for schools or other district needs.
No formal bid awards or contracts were approved during the reported meeting; staff said they plan to return to the board with recommended contracts at future meetings.
