Liberty Elementary land closing nears after due diligence, district says

School officials told the board that due diligence for the proposed New Liberty Elementary site in the town of Liberty is complete and that the district was moving toward final closing of the land purchase.
"All due diligence has been completed. All the environmental checks have been done," the district official said, adding that the town of Liberty had approved needed permits and watershed-related percentages and that staff presented to the town council in late April. The official said a test fit by the architect is underway to show what could fit on the parcel.
A test fit was described as a schematic exercise showing how a building might be arranged on the property rather than final design. The district said the town is arranging final closing steps and that the district would move into schematic design once the land transaction is complete.
Board members asked whether the town would be able to provide water; the administrator said they had heard nothing to indicate water could not be provided and that the town council approvals indicated progress on utilities.
Officials said the Liberty site was a good spot for a future elementary and that closing would advance schematic and design work. No specific construction timeline was presented; board members were told closing and site design would determine next steps.
