Randolph County Schools to continue Community Eligibility provision and announce donor-funded classroom grants

District staff reported the Community Eligibility Provision will continue at eligible school sites for 2025–26 and presented several DonorsChoose grants and small gifts as informational items.
Randolph County Schools told the board on May 12 it will continue sites participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for free breakfast and lunch for the 2025–26 school year.
District staff said the CEP sites, implemented last year and maintained this year by nutrition services staff, will remain in place next year after a review of participation rates. The district reported increases in participation at most sites and said program implementation was led by Kelly Green and her team.
The board also received informational notices about several small donor-funded grants and a gift. Staff reported multiple DonorsChoose grants under $5,000 that will purchase classroom and instructional materials across several schools, including grants for Battle of the Books materials, AP statistics resources, ESL supplemental books and seating, and supplemental texts for Holocaust curriculum materials. The board was told a gift of less than $5,000 had been accepted for Southmont Elementary and will fund reading materials for the school media center.
District staff said they would answer any questions from board members and that the grants are informational under board policy for items <$5,000.
