The Sunrise Manor advisory board approved a use permit and related waivers May 29 for outdoor storage and display at an existing warehouse (Power Plus) on Olive Street east of Mojave Road.
Lucy Stewart, representing the applicant, told the board the building was constructed in 1980 and the site had been used for outside storage by the tenant for years; the business provides temporary power and generators to construction sites and has minimal customer foot traffic. Stewart said the applicant would pave areas used for storage to comply with air‑quality rules and noted the existing site met older development codes when it was built.
Jean Parret, manager of the adjacent mobile home park, spoke in support of Power Plus, saying the company had been a good neighbor and helped keep an eye on the property. Stewart noted the property had installed landscaping per an earlier permit and that the waivers sought reflect existing conditions and the site’s history under prior codes.
Despite staff concerns about conformity with current Title 30 standards, board members concluded the site-specific circumstances and the tenant’s long history supported approval and moved to approve; the motion carried with board members answering “Aye.” The approval requires the applicant to pave storage areas and meet county standards as part of final permitting.
