The Bryan ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the purchase of three 77‑passenger buses from Longhorn Bus Sales in the amount of $459,051, to be funded from the Transportation Internal Service Fund.
Transportation staff said the district currently has sufficient drivers but not enough buses; the purchase of three buses will allow the district to reduce overcrowding on routes and shorten route times so schools can be served on schedule. Staff said the buses were procured through the BuyBoard cooperative at a discounted rate and that the vehicles were on dealer lots and available for prompt delivery once the board approved the purchase.
Trustees approved the purchase by motion: “I move approval of the purchase of 3 77 passenger buses from Longhorn Bus Sales in the amount of $459,051 to be funded by the internal transportation service fund as presented,” with the motion carried unanimously (motion by Mr. Gonzales, second by Ms. Benford). Staff also said the district will auction replaced buses as required.
