Laura Drea, appearing for the applicant, told the advisory board the original use permit approved in 2023 required the business to be operating within two years; the applicant received a certificate of occupancy on Jan. 13 and the convenience store is now open. Drea said she accepted staff conditions including subsequent review and requested the board approve the extension of time.
A nearby resident asked whether the applicant planned to expand or change the footprint; Drea replied this hearing was procedural to extend the time period for the previously approved application and that no new construction beyond the original approval was proposed. After a brief public hearing with no opposition, a board member moved and the advisory board voted to approve the extension per staff recommendation.
The advisory boards approval will be forwarded to the county planning commission and Board of County Commissioners as part of the standard routing for use-permit extensions; the site is on the north side of Lake Mead Boulevard within Sunrise Manor.
