Applicant asked to return with plans for proposed charter school at Boulevard Mall; board continues item

An application to convert the former Macy’s space at the Boulevard Mall into a charter middle school and to use the adjacent parking garage for supervised outdoor recreation was continued after the applicant did not present site plans at the January advisory hearing.
Kimo Kusela, representing QC Standby 24, described using the third floor of the former Macy’s for middle‑school students with a bridge connection to the parking garage and safety fencing to isolate students from mall traffic. Board members said they could not act without seeing site plans and materials and asked the applicant to return to the Paradise Town Advisory Board on Jan. 28 with full plans so the board could consider the application before it goes to the county planning commission.
The board continued the item and instructed the applicant to provide the requested plans at the next advisory meeting.
