The Jackson County Finance and Audit Committee recommended adoption of Resolution 21996 to purchase six pontoon boats for Parks + Rec rental operations.
Diane Kimsey of Parks + Rec told the committee the department operates a fleet of 56 pontoon boats used for public rentals at Lake Jacomo, Blue Springs Lake and Longview Lake and that the six new boats would replace rental models at the end of their useful life. The department proposed purchasing the boats from LSK Lebanon Inc. of Lebanon, Missouri, under an existing State of Missouri contract (CC232078005) at a county cost of $208,356. Kimsey said the purchase is budgeted in the 2025 enterprise fund.
After questions from legislators, a motion to adopt the resolution was moved and seconded and the committee recommended adoption by voice vote.
Next steps: the recommended resolution will proceed to the full legislature for final action and Parks + Rec will schedule delivery and fleet replacements under the enterprise fund appropriation.
