PLATTE COUNTY, July 7, 2025 — The Platte County Commission unanimously approved a contract change order on Monday to buy record storage equipment for the recorder of deeds, County Administrator Wes Mender told commissioners during a special meeting called to manage American Rescue Plan Act projects.
County Administrator Wes Mender said the change order would increase the contract with Centric by “roughly $81,000” to purchase a storage system the recorder’s office recommended as part of a project to consolidate record storage in the Administration Building basement. “The recorder’s office is statutorily required to keep permanent documents,” Mender said, and the selected product was chosen to preserve historic records while maintaining public access.
The equipment purchase is part of the county’s administration modernization work funded under the federal American Rescue Plan Act but will be paid from the recorder’s own fund balance rather than the county’s general revenue, Mender said. He also said a small deduction in the contract reflects storage materials the county already had on hand.
A commissioner moved to approve contract change order 2025CO009 (contract change order number 3) with Centric Projects; another commissioner seconded. The roll call vote was recorded as 3-0 in favor, and the chair declared the motion carried.
The meeting lasted about four minutes. No public comment on the item is recorded in the meeting transcript. The commission adjourned at 10:25 a.m.
