Woodbridge approves year‑end budget transfers; mayor reads detailed line items

The Woodbridge Township Council unanimously approved a slate of resolutions by consent, including Resolution 34, which authorizes budget transfers between accounts for the current fiscal year.

During public comment, Ken Gardner asked for details of Resolution 34. Mayor John McCormick said transfers are routine between May 1 and June 30 to cover budget variances and then read a series of line items from the transfer document for the public record.

Items the mayor read into the record included transfers from general administration salary and wages of $250,000 and other general administration expenses of $220,000; from police department salary and wages $1,400,000; recreation services and programs other expenses $640,000; insurance employee group health $1,000,000; statutory expenditures contribution to Social Security (OASI) $105,011.43; sewer utility operating other expenses $22,940 transfer to debt service interest on notes $22,940; and other utility and departmental salary and operating transfers enumerated during the meeting.

The mayor said totals for the current fund transfers were presented in the transfer document; the full list of line‑by‑line transfers is part of the council packet and the official record. Council approved the consent calendar, including the budget‑transfer resolution, on a unanimous voice vote. The mayor and finance officials said this is a routine, year‑end accounting practice to ensure bills are covered until the new fiscal year begins.

Residents requesting the specific dollar movements were directed to the full transfer schedule in the meeting packet and to follow‑up with the township for copies or clarifications.
