Uvalde CISD nominates three candidates for Uvalde County Appraisal District board

The Uvalde CISD board nominated three individuals to appear on the Uvalde County Appraisal District (UCAD) ballot. Trustees nominated Tony Moreno, Howard Kingsbury and Simon Ortiz and the nominations were approved by the board.
District staff told the board UCAD asked Uvalde CISD to submit three names for the appraisal district’s five‑member governing body. The terms of current directors Jay Allen Karnes, Tony Moreno and Howard Kingsbury expire Dec. 31, 2025; Karnes has indicated he will step down at the end of his term. The board must submit its list of three nominees to UCAD by Oct. 15, 2025; UCAD will post an official candidate list by Oct. 30, 2025. UCISD will cast its allotted 684 votes by resolution once the ballot is finalized.
Trustee Flores nominated Tony Moreno, Howard Kingsbury and Simon Ortiz; Trustee Suarez seconded the nomination. The board voted and recorded the nominations for submission to UCAD.
