Board approves June treasurer’s report; auditors and trustees discuss cash flow, BoardDocs access

The Mount Vernon City School District board approved the June 2025 treasurer’s report during its Aug. 26 business meeting after a remote presentation by Amy Skiff. "We start with the balance at the end of the prior month ... we need to present to you the cash receipts that have come in by fund and by source so you know what monies are coming into the district," Skiff said, explaining the report meets the commissioner’s regulations on monthly financial disclosures. Trustees raised questions about where the report lives online and the timing of publication. Dr. Strickland said the treasurer’s report is available in BoardDocs under resolution 10.21 and pledged to ensure future presentations are attached directly to meeting materials. On cash flow, Skiff said July typically brings a large influx of tax receipts and noted the district keeps money invested in NYCLASS, a municipal investment pool, that the district can draw on when needed. She said trustees have in the past used a tax anticipation note (TAN) to smooth cash needs and that the district maintains a cash-flow projection. Trustee McDonough asked whether a drop in available cash at the end of June was a concern; Skiff said July’s tax receipts generally address seasonal fluctuation and that reconciliations to bank statements are the primary check on accuracy. The board moved and passed resolution 10.21 to approve the treasurer’s June report as presented.
