Parent urges United ISD to publish end‑of‑year report on district improvement plan goals

During the public‑comment portion of the May 14 meeting, Leti (Leticia) Juarez asked the United ISD Board of Trustees for a public, end‑of‑year review of the district’s improvement plan that shows which goals were met, which objectives fell short, and what corrective actions the district will take.

“For the record, my name is Leti Juarez,” she said. “As you close out the 24‑25 school year, I ask how many of the goals and objectives outlined in the district improvement plan approved by this board have actually been met.” Juarez said the community rarely receives a formal update detailing results and corrective actions and that without clear follow‑up “we risk repeating the same cycle year after year.”

Juarez cited examples from the plan — such as shortages of instructional materials for tutorials and rising disruptive student behavior — and asked what specific resources, personnel or programs were provided to address those problems and what measurable impact those actions produced. She said the district often uses broad phrases like “leadership will support campuses” and “instructional coordinators will assist” but requested a more concrete accounting of outcomes.

Administrators did not provide an immediate, itemized report in response to Juarez’s remarks during the meeting. Juarez asked the board to schedule an end‑of‑year public discussion or report on the improvement plan so parents, teachers and taxpayers can evaluate district progress and corrective steps.

No formal board action was taken at the meeting to direct such a report; the request was made as public comment and could be addressed by the superintendent or scheduled for a future agenda item.
