United ISD trustees in open session confirmed several personnel recommendations on Wednesday, approving new principals, assistant principals and district directors presented by district leadership.
Action items approved by voice vote included recommendations for: Priscilla Leija as Magna Dean, Health Science at Alexander High School; Jessica Bravo Barnumas as assistant principal at Julie B. Jones Elementary; Angelica Chavan as assistant principal at Lamar Buenavida Middle School; Laura Whitecroft as assistant principal at United Middle School; Erica Salvania as principal at Kennedy Zapata Elementary School; Gabriela Perez as director of elementary education; Angelica Sanchez as executive director of college, career, military readiness and enrichment; and Alfonso Pena as assistant superintendent of facilities and construction.
Board members made brief clarifying comments about certain positions. At least one trustee asked whether the executive director role change would affect the district's director of CTE position; administrators indicated the director position for CTE would still be filled. Each appointment was presented with a recommendation, a motion and a second, and each passed by voice vote. Congratulations were offered to the recommended candidates in open session.
The board did not provide individual roll-call tallies in the open-session excerpt and did not discuss compensation or contract details on the record at the time the recommendations were approved.
