United ISD trustees on Thursday authorized district legal counsel to proceed with legal action discussed in closed session related to a lawsuit filed by Potential Holdings LLC challenging plats associated with the United ISD Student Activity Complex (SAC) and related matters.
The suit was filed in the 111th Judicial District Court of Webb County under cause number 2023-CVG-151d2. The complaint references plats recorded in the Webb County plat records (volume 21, pages 43–44 and volume 18, page 55) and concerns property and street matters including Santa Claudia Lane and Santa Monica Drive.
In open session after returning from closed session, a district representative said, "The recommendation on that item is to authorize legal counsel to proceed as discussed in closed session." The motion to authorize counsel passed by voice vote.
No additional details of legal strategy were released in open session; trustees confirmed authorization was limited to the directions given in closed session and that counsel will proceed accordingly.
