Southwest ISD receives construction updates on central office, Bob Hope and Alvarado projects

At Alvarado Elementary the project team showed drone video and photographs from the day of the meeting, reporting that site utilities, foundation piers and the mud slab have been poured and that concrete slab pours were taking place that day. The Alvarado presenter said the project is approximately 12% complete and described where the gym, cafeteria, music/art and two‑story classroom blocks will sit on the site plan.
Across the presentations contractors described interior sequencing: once exterior enclosures are in place, trade work can accelerate on mechanical, electrical and interior finishes. Board members praised the pace and asked a few questions about schedule and warranty terms; staff replied that the McNair reroof warranty will be 20 years for the proposed overlay system and that some window and glazing work remains for the Bob Hope addition.
Staff noted communications materials — photos and meeting handouts — will be posted for trustees and the public. No formal board action was required on the information items; updates were provided so trustees could review progress and upcoming summer turnovers.
