Adam (technology staff) told the board the district refreshes ninth-grade Chromebooks each year and proposed buying 600 devices at $360 each to provide a small overhead buffer for DOAs and replacements. The quoted devices include 8 GB of RAM, touch screens and a four-year warranty with two years of accidental-damage coverage, Adam said.
The board approved the purchase by voice vote. Technology staff said the devices are intended to align with the district's refresh cycle and to allow teachers and students to begin the year with updated equipment.
Staff thanked the board for convening a special July meeting to approve time-sensitive items and said technology and operations teams are preparing for the start of the school year.
