Board approves construction change orders; Crutchfield GMP increased, Parker GMP reduced

The Sherman ISD Board of Trustees approved change orders moving construction funds between Parker, Crutchfield and Fairview projects, district staff said, while reporting contractors remain on track to meet key handover targets.
District construction staff reported an administrative recommendation to deduct $700,000 from Parker Elementary's GMP, add $380,941 to Crutchfield Elementary's GMP and release the remainder ($319,059) back to the district. Staff said the adjustments were covered by project contingencies and internal reallocations rather than adding district cost overall.
Construction staff said Core (the general contractor) had lost 67 days to permitting and weather but anticipated making up much of that time and proceeding toward temporary certificate-of-occupancy steps. Furnishings have been delivered to Crutchfield and Fairview, and staff said classrooms are already being set up. The district said administrative staff hoped teachers could begin moving into the new buildings around Aug. 20, with administrative staff moving in earlier to prepare; some parking and networking work would still be completed after staff and teachers began setup.
Trustee Brad (Trustee) moved to approve the change order recommendation; Trustee David (Trustee) seconded. The board approved the recommendation by voice vote.
District staff said they had contingency plans for interim parking, including using a nearby church lot at Fairview and the rear parking area until front lots are cured. Staff also thanked the contractor for progress and noted tree-saving measures taken at Fairview during construction.
Administrators said they will continue to monitor schedule progress and return to the board with updates if timing or cost changes.
