The board approved a consent agenda item that includes a planned purchase of network equipment. During the meeting a trustee asked IT coordinator Adam whether the district will install the equipment and who will pull cabling.
Adam said the district will perform the equipment installation and will contract out cable pulling: "Yes. We will. Yep," and "We will have people pulling cable." He confirmed the district plans to assign approximately 10 to 12 installers to the project over the summer and will use May and June to program and stage equipment so campuses are ready when staff return. Adam said reimaging of computers will also occur and the IT team is considering supplemental help to meet the timeline.
Trustees voiced concern about having networks ready for teachers and students at the start of the school year; Adam said the purchase and staging work scheduled in the coming months is intended to ensure systems are operational when schools open.
Next steps: IT will begin procurement and programming, schedule cable pulls with external crews, and return updates as work is staged and completed over May and June.
