Board approves new hires, behavior specialist and assistant principal appointments

The San Felipe del Oro CISD Board of Trustees on Aug. 18 approved personnel actions that included resignations, retirements, four new certified-hire recommendations and two administrative appointments.
Amy Childress presented the personnel slate in open session, describing new hires recommended following closed‑session discussion. The board approved the resignations, retirements and the following new personnel: Amanda Flores, special education teacher at Irene Cardwell; Melanie Rodriguez, math teacher at Garfield Middle School; Jordan Esparza, science teacher at Del Rio Middle School; and Isaiah Lozano, physical education teacher at Doctor Fermin Calderon.
Administrative appointments: The board approved Laura Lisonbee Ward as a behavior specialist in the special education department and approved Becebe Encinas as assistant principal at Doctor Lonnie Green Elementary.
Why it matters: The approvals fill certificated positions and add district-level special education support and campus leadership for the coming school year.
Board action: The board voted unanimously to approve the personnel recommendations presented by administration.
