Administrators presented the updated policy language and said the personal communication device rules have been incorporated into the student handbook. Doctor Rios noted the district would distribute a TASB guide explaining consequences and parent rights via Skyward Messenger and campus ClassDojo to maximize parental notice.
Device-disposal clarification: Board members asked about the policy’s language regarding what happens to confiscated devices after 90 days. Doctor Rios said, “The district is supposed to dispose of them, but we agreed that we would keep them longer in case anybody wanted to retrieve them at a later date.” The board asked staff to make another attempt to contact parents before disposal.
