Anita told commissioners state and federal intergovernmental revenues are projected to fall next year — primarily because of a reduction in medical-assistance funding at the Department of Social Services.

Anita told the board that intergovernmental revenues — mostly state and federal reimbursements that fund Department of Social Services (DSS) and county health programs — are projected to decline in fiscal 2025–26 from about $11.2 million to about $10.7 million.
Anita said the decrease is primarily attributable to lower medical-assistance funding at DSS. She noted that staff rely on DSS and health division estimates for the intergovernmental revenue lines and invited Lori from DSS to speak about the estimates, saying “Lori's here. I'm sure she can speak to that if you'd like for her to.”
Why it matters: intergovernmental revenues fund core social services and public-health programs; reductions shift the county’s cost-sharing obligations and can affect service levels or county general-fund support for those programs.
Ending: Staff described the change as an estimate based on agency projections. Commissioners did not take formal action at the workshop; staff flagged the decrease for budget deliberations and possible adjustments in departmental requests.
