He said no upset bids were filed and the county’s tax value for the lot is $5,100. “The land tax value is $5,100. It's less than an acre located in Warsaw,” Miller said, adding the parcel’s main usable purpose would be as a driveway because setbacks make building impracticable.
Commissioner Garner moved to accept the $1,000 offer; Commissioner Branch seconded. The motion passed with all commissioners voting in favor.
Miller had referenced the statutory procedure in the opening of the item, citing the county’s authority to receive and advertise offers under the North Carolina statute mentioned at the meeting. No further action was recorded at the May 5 session.
