Commissioners approve six lane names after public hearings; no objections recorded

Duplin County commissioners on May 5 approved a set of lane names after public hearings and recorded no public objections.
Melissa Brown presented four separate public-hearing items to name private or new lanes. The board approved the 200 block of Murphy Store Road in Island Creek Township as Laura Family Lane (requested by Eli Gregory Laura), the 800 block of Outlaws Bridal Road in Albertson Township as Lenny Lane (requested by Richard Padrick/Walnut Hills of North Carolina), and the 1500 block of Carlton Chapel Church Road in Magnolia Township as Almendarez Lane (requested by Rumer Romero). Each item was opened for public comment; no members of the public spoke against the proposed names.
The board also approved three names for parcels at the Duplin County Airport in Kingsville Township — Airpark Drive, Futures Way and DPL Drive — after one combined public hearing. Commissioner Garner moved to approve the airport names; Commissioner Edwards seconded and the motion carried.
Motions for the other lane names were made and seconded on the record: the Laura Family Lane motion was moved by Commissioner Branch and seconded by Commissioner Garner; the Lenny Lane motion was moved by Commissioner Garner and seconded by Commissioner Edwards; the Almendarez Lane motion was moved by Commissioner Branch and seconded by Commissioner Garner. All votes were recorded as in favor and carried.
The approvals were processed under the county’s road/land-naming procedures and no further action was recorded at the May 5 meeting.
