County manager seeks board support for $7,000 personnel-policy rewrite

The manager said the current personnel policy had not been rewritten in roughly 10 years and contains conflicting provisions that have caused problems in application. He asked the board for permission to proceed with the rewrite and said the finished draft would be returned to the board for review and adoption before implementation and before the start of the next fiscal year.
Commissioners voiced support for clarifying policy and for addressing conflicting statements in the current document so expectations and accountability are clear. The manager emphasized he would not finalize or implement a rewritten policy without the board’s approval.
No formal vote was required at the Jan. 6 meeting; staff will proceed with the rewrite and provide the draft to the board for subsequent review and formal adoption.
