Swain County commissioners on July 15 unanimously approved a joint resolution with Macon County asking the state to conduct a boundary-line survey where property ownership between the two counties was in question.
County staff explained the counties had already exchanged maps and deeds and agreed on a list of small parcels that appear on each county’s rolls. The joint resolution asks the state to verify the official line in the field; staff said the state survey will be the official boundary used going forward.
County staff told the board the state provides the survey service to counties at no charge and that both counties were in agreement on the items included in an attachment listing affected parcels. A commissioner moved to accept the resolution; after a second the measure passed unanimously.
