The board did not take action on the ordinance at the work session but directed staff to circulate the draft for public review and set a public hearing before final consideration.
Committee members said the ordinance is lengthy, has been through multiple committee meetings, and is intended to address a range of animal-control issues. County staff confirmed the draft has been sent to the county attorney for a page-by-page legal review. The board said it will provide copies to the public, accept public comment at a future hearing, and then consider formal adoption at a subsequent meeting.
No ordinance text was adopted at the work session; the item was introduced to give commissioners an opportunity to read the draft before the regular session and public notice.
